International Songwriters Collective Concert Held In Herndon

Music and calls for art at Hendon art gallery.

On Thursday, June 25, the International Songwriters Collective (I.S.C.) Tour made a stop at ArtSpace Herndon. Three musicians-singer songwriters are on a one-month tour: Jimmy Robinson from New Orleans, Lily Kiara from Holland, and Floatstone (born Brick de Bois) from Antwerp, Belgium.

Herndon Hosts Korean American Sports Festival

18th Korean American Sports Festival hosted in Herndon.

From June 19 - 21, Herndon helped host the 18th Annual Korean American Sports Festival. The 18th Korean American National Sports Festival (KASF) is a semi-annual national event where Korean American's celebrate heritage through sports. Festival President Ahn Kyung-ho said Washington D.C., had been the host to eight successful events. “Korean-American’s are the only minority to have multi-sports events in the USA and I am very proud to host this year’s event in D.C.,” said Sam Chung, chair of the 2015 KASF Organization Committee.

The Herndon High School Symphonic and Wind Ensembles continued their tradition of excellence at the Virginia State Assessment evaluation on March 20 and 21, with the Wind Ensemble garnering an overall superior rating and Symphonic receiving an excellent rating.

Herndon's NextStop Theatre Produces 'The Secret Garden'

The beloved novel, “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett, has been transformed into a musical that will be gracing the stage at NextStop Theatre. It is “a joyful, entertaining story about the enduring power of love, through all obstacles and across all boundaries,” said Evan Hoffmann, director of the NextStop production.

New Art Exhibits to Open in Reston and Herndon

Many residents of Fairfax County have an appreciation for various mediums of visual and preforming art. Several nonprofits within the Reston and Herndon area, including ArtSpace Herndon located on Center Street and the Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) have helped showcase local artwork, and as some exhibits close, new displays will soon open.

Celebrating Valentine’s with Classical Ballet

On Feb. 13, at the Reston Community Center, Classical Ballet Theatre (CBT) will be presenting “An Evening with Classical Ballet Theatre.” For the last 25 years, CBT has been educating and inspiring children through the art of classical ballet in Northern Virginia, thanks to the vision, commitment, and dedication of its founder and Executive Director, Cynthia Donavin.
